Senior & Postgraduate Studies Learning Strategies

At Angels, we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to thrive, both in and beyond the lecture theatre.

That’s why our Learning Strategies Department plays such an integral role in supporting every student’s unique journey.

We have a talented team of five Learning Strategies lecturers, including maths specialists and literacy specialists alongside teaching assistants to support them.

Our commitment begins even before a student starts at Angels. Our Learning Strategies team meets with families during the admissions process – if the family feel this would be helpful – to understand each student’s story, especially any existing diagnoses and the support they may already receive. By working closely with feeder undergraduate programmes, we ensure a smooth transition.

From the moment a student joins Angels, we take a proactive approach to understanding their individual needs. Every student is screened for learning challenges, such as working memory, processing speed, reading, writing, or numeracy. This careful attention helps us create tailored strategies to support their development.

No student’s aspirations should be limited by learning difficulties or disabilities. Whether it’s adapting a curriculum to suit a student’s needs or designing bespoke pathways for students with autism, we work with families to create a supportive framework. While we focus on core subjects like Maths and English, we’re always guided by what’s best for the individual student.

Of course, we work closely with college staff, subject lecturers, and families. This holistic approach ensures that each student receives the required support in a way that feels natural. Open communication with families ensures that families feel included, supported, and reassured throughout their student’s time with us.

Unlike many universities, we offer one-to-one and small group support lessons free of charge. These sessions are designed to meet each student’s unique needs, integrating perfectly with their everyday learning. Dedicated spaces like “The Study” and “The Compass” provide calm, welcoming environments where students can focus and flourish.

By combining expert knowledge, personalised care, and a commitment to early identification, we ensure that every student can confidently explore their potential.
